Venta vs Microsoft Copilot: help inside your apps, or tasks done on your computer.
Microsoft Copilot is Microsoft's AI assistant, and on Microsoft 365 plans it works inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Venta is an assistant that is not tied to one model company, and on a computer you link it runs the commands you approve and reads the files you choose.
Overview
Copilot's strength is the Microsoft 365 documents you already work in. Venta's is the computer around them: finding files, running commands, and keeping a task going after you close the tab, with Windows, macOS and Linux computers linked to one account.
What Microsoft Copilot is
- Microsoft Copilot is an AI-powered assistant made by Microsoft.
- Microsoft offers Copilot with a free tier, and with more use in its Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, Premium and Pro plans.
- With Microsoft 365, Copilot works inside the Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook desktop apps.
- Copilot has a mobile app for chatting with it.
Where Venta differs
- Venta is not tied to one model company: its included AI, or your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI or Cerebras account, in the same app.
- Messages on your own provider key are not counted against your Venta plan, on any plan.
- A computer you link — Windows through the app, macOS and Linux through a one-file agent — can be reached from any browser, phones included, to run the commands you approve.
- Purchases and deletions ask first, and every command it runs is shown in the conversation.
Where each fits
- Copilot: your work lives in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and you want help inside them.
- Venta: you want tasks done across your computer and the web, with the AI provider you choose.
- Both can sit side by side: Copilot inside your documents, Venta for the tasks around them.

Pricing
Microsoft Copilot's current prices are on its official pricing page, linked in the table above. This page does not copy them, so it cannot show you an old price.
Free to try with 10 messages a month and no card. Paid plans start at $9 a month and include an AI allowance; connecting your own provider account does not use it.
Privacy
Venta encrypts your messages in transit and at rest, and trains on nothing you type unless you switch that on in Settings, where it is off by default. It is not end-to-end encrypted: Venta's servers read a conversation in order to answer it. When you connect your own provider account, that provider's policies apply to what you send through it.
Microsoft Copilot's own privacy policy is linked in the table above; it says how Microsoft handles what you send.
Models
Venta's included AI runs on models from other AI companies; it is not a model Venta built. You can also connect your own account with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI or Cerebras, or any public HTTPS endpoint that speaks the OpenAI-compatible API, and choose which model answers.
Limitations
- It does not drive your mouse and keyboard the way a remote-desktop session does; it runs commands and reads files.
- Its included AI is not a model Venta built; an answer is only as good as the model behind it.
- It is not end-to-end encrypted, and it holds no security certification.
- It cannot reach a computer that is off, asleep, or not running the app.
- It is not made by Microsoft, and it does not work inside Word or Excel documents the way Copilot does.

Questions people ask first
- Does Venta work on Windows?
- Yes. The Venta app for Windows links your PC to your account, so Venta can run the commands you approve and read the files you choose there, from any browser or your phone.
- Do messages on my own key count against the free plan?
- No. Venta meters only its included AI. Messages through your own provider account are not counted on any plan; your provider bills you for them.
- Is it safe to let an AI run commands on my computer?
- Venta reaches a computer only while its app is running, only in the folders you point it at, and inside the ceiling you set. Purchases and deletions ask first, and every command it runs is shown in the conversation.
- Does work continue when I close the tab?
- A task keeps its place when you close the tab. Venta's worker picks it up on its next run — today that can be up to a day — and a task that needs your own computer waits for that computer to be online.
