A free AI agent for Windows.
Venta's free plan lets you link a Windows PC and ask an AI to work on it: read the folders you choose, run the commands you approve, and report back. No card. The free plan includes 10 messages a month on the included AI, and messages on your own API key are not counted.
What you get for free
- 10 messages a month on Venta's included AI, with no card.
- Web search and file uploads in the chat.
- Messages on your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI or Cerebras key, which Venta does not count.
- One linked computer, through the Windows app or the one-file agent.
Set it up on Windows
- Sign in to Venta in any browser.
- Download Venta for Windows from the download page. It is not signed yet, so Windows shows a warning the first time you run it.
- Pair this PC from your account and choose the folders Venta may read.
- Ask for the PC by name in any conversation, on this computer or on your phone.
Would rather not install an app? The one-file agent runs on Windows too. It is plain Node, about 200 lines, needs Node 18 or newer, and you can read it before you run it.
What to ask first
- “What is using my disk space?”
- “Why is my PC slow right now?”
- Organize my Downloads folder by type.
- Show me what's on my Wi-Fi.
- Find the PDF I downloaded yesterday and open it.
What it asks before doing
You set a ceiling for what Venta may do on its own, and lower ceilings for particular tools. Purchases and deletions ask first unless you have allowed that kind of action, and a yes you give lapses on its own. Each command it runs is shown in the conversation as it happens.
Say it out loud
The desktop app listens from the tray for “Hey Venta” once you turn that on. Say what you need; Venta opens the chat, does it, and reads the answer back. A small “Venta is listening” pill sits in the corner whenever the microphone is on, with a button to stop.
Keep it in your hands
Venta reaches the PC only in the folders you choose and only while the app is running. You can unlink it under Settings, then Devices, at any time, and unlinking stops it immediately.
When you need more
The free plan is the same app as every plan, with a smaller allowance. Paid plans add a larger included allowance, any number of linked devices, helpers that run on a schedule, and, from Venta Pro, tasks that keep going after you close the tab.
Free to try with 10 messages a month and no card. Paid plans start at $9 a month and include an AI allowance; connecting your own provider account does not use it.
What it does not do
- It does not drive your mouse and keyboard the way a remote-desktop session does; it runs commands and reads files.
- It cannot reach a computer that is off, asleep, or not running the app.
- It does not read folders you did not link or ask about.
Questions people ask first
- Is it really free?
- Yes. The free plan needs no card and includes 10 messages a month on the included AI. Messages on your own provider key are not counted, so the only cost there is what your provider charges you.
- Why does Windows warn me when I install it?
- The Windows app is not signed yet, so Windows warns on the first run. If you would rather not install it, the one-file agent also links a Windows PC: about 200 lines of plain Node, which you can read before you run it.
- Does the app need to stay open?
- It runs from the tray, and yes: Venta reaches the PC only while it is running.
- Can I use it from my phone?
- Yes. Open Venta in your phone's browser and ask for the PC by name; Venta does the work there while the app is running on it.
- What happens when I use up the free messages?
- The included AI stops answering until the next month, unless you move to a paid plan. Your own provider key keeps working, because Venta does not count it.
