Venta vs DeepSeek: a model maker's chat, or an assistant that can use it.
DeepSeek makes AI models, offers its own chat on the web and in a mobile app, and publishes model weights. Venta is an assistant that can act on a computer you link, and because DeepSeek's API uses an OpenAI-compatible format, DeepSeek can answer inside Venta as a custom provider.
Overview
DeepSeek is first a model maker; its chat is one way to use its models. Venta is built around the work rather than one model: you choose what answers, and it can run the steps you approve on your own computer.
What DeepSeek is
- DeepSeek offers a chat on the web, a mobile app, and an API for developers.
- DeepSeek publishes model weights on Hugging Face.
- DeepSeek's API uses a format compatible with OpenAI's.
Where Venta differs
- Venta is not tied to one model company: its included AI, or your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI or Cerebras account, in the same app.
- Messages on your own provider key are not counted against your Venta plan, on any plan.
- A computer you link — Windows through the app, macOS and Linux through a one-file agent — can be reached from any browser, phones included, to run the commands you approve.
- Purchases and deletions ask first, and every command it runs is shown in the conversation.
Where each fits
- DeepSeek's chat: you want DeepSeek's models in DeepSeek's own app.
- DeepSeek's published weights: you want to run a model on hardware you control.
- Venta: you want DeepSeek's API next to other providers in one assistant, with your computer in reach.

Pricing
DeepSeek's current prices are on its official pricing page, linked in the table above. This page does not copy them, so it cannot show you an old price.
Free to try with 10 messages a month and no card. Paid plans start at $9 a month and include an AI allowance; connecting your own provider account does not use it.
Privacy
Venta encrypts your messages in transit and at rest, and trains on nothing you type unless you switch that on in Settings, where it is off by default. It is not end-to-end encrypted: Venta's servers read a conversation in order to answer it. When you connect your own provider account, that provider's policies apply to what you send through it.
DeepSeek's own privacy policy is linked in the table above; it says how DeepSeek handles what you send.
Models
Venta's included AI runs on models from other AI companies; it is not a model Venta built. You can also connect your own account with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI or Cerebras, or any public HTTPS endpoint that speaks the OpenAI-compatible API, and choose which model answers.
DeepSeek is not one of Venta's built-in providers, but its API uses an OpenAI-compatible format, so you can add it under Settings, then Your AI, as a custom provider with your DeepSeek key and the model name you want. DeepSeek bills you for that use directly.
A model you run yourself from DeepSeek's published weights can be connected the same way, if it is reachable at a public HTTPS address and speaks the OpenAI-compatible API.
Limitations
- It does not drive your mouse and keyboard the way a remote-desktop session does; it runs commands and reads files.
- Its included AI is not a model Venta built; an answer is only as good as the model behind it.
- It is not end-to-end encrypted, and it holds no security certification.
- It cannot reach a computer that is off, asleep, or not running the app.
- It is not made by DeepSeek, and DeepSeek's chat history does not carry over.

Questions people ask first
- Can I use DeepSeek in Venta?
- DeepSeek is not one of Venta's built-in providers, but its API uses an OpenAI-compatible format, so you can add it under Settings, then Your AI, as a custom provider with your DeepSeek key and the model name you want. DeepSeek bills you for that use directly.
- Can I use a self-hosted model?
- Yes, if it is reachable at a public HTTPS address and speaks the OpenAI-compatible API: add it as a custom provider and name the model.
- Do messages on my own key count against the free plan?
- No. Venta meters only its included AI. Messages through your own provider account are not counted on any plan; your provider bills you for them.
- Is it safe to let an AI run commands on my computer?
- Venta reaches a computer only while its app is running, only in the folders you point it at, and inside the ceiling you set. Purchases and deletions ask first, and every command it runs is shown in the conversation.
