Venta vs Perplexity: an answer from the web, or the task done.
Perplexity is built around finding answers, with a free plan and paid plans that add more models. Venta also searches the web and lists its sources, and on a computer you link it can run the commands you approve, so the answer can become the finished task.
Overview
Perplexity's focus is research: ask a question and get an answer drawn from the web. Venta covers that too, but it is built for the step after the answer: doing the work on your own computer, or keeping a task running after you close the tab.
What Perplexity is
- Perplexity has a free plan, paid Pro and Max plans, and plans for organizations.
- On Perplexity's free plan, Perplexity picks the model that answers.
- Perplexity Max includes models from OpenAI, Anthropic and others.
- Perplexity offers an API for developers to build its answers into their own applications.
Where Venta differs
- Venta is not tied to one model company: its included AI, or your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI or Cerebras account, in the same app.
- Messages on your own provider key are not counted against your Venta plan, on any plan.
- A computer you link — Windows through the app, macOS and Linux through a one-file agent — can be reached from any browser, phones included, to run the commands you approve.
- Purchases and deletions ask first, and every command it runs is shown in the conversation.
Where each fits
- Perplexity: you mostly want questions researched from the web, in Perplexity's own app.
- Perplexity's API: you are a developer building its answers into your own product.
- Venta: you want research and action in one place, with your computer in reach and the AI provider you choose.

Pricing
Perplexity's current prices are on its official pricing page, linked in the table above. This page does not copy them, so it cannot show you an old price.
Free to try with 10 messages a month and no card. Paid plans start at $9 a month and include an AI allowance; connecting your own provider account does not use it.
Privacy
Venta encrypts your messages in transit and at rest, and trains on nothing you type unless you switch that on in Settings, where it is off by default. It is not end-to-end encrypted: Venta's servers read a conversation in order to answer it. When you connect your own provider account, that provider's policies apply to what you send through it.
Perplexity's own privacy policy is linked in the table above; it says how Perplexity AI handles what you send.
Models
Venta's included AI runs on models from other AI companies; it is not a model Venta built. You can also connect your own account with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI or Cerebras, or any public HTTPS endpoint that speaks the OpenAI-compatible API, and choose which model answers.
Limitations
- It does not drive your mouse and keyboard the way a remote-desktop session does; it runs commands and reads files.
- Its included AI is not a model Venta built; an answer is only as good as the model behind it.
- It is not end-to-end encrypted, and it holds no security certification.
- It cannot reach a computer that is off, asleep, or not running the app.
- It is not made by Perplexity, and your Perplexity history does not carry over.

Questions people ask first
- Does Venta show its sources when it searches the web?
- Yes. When Venta searches the web it lists the pages it used next to the answer, so you can open and check them.
- Do messages on my own key count against the free plan?
- No. Venta meters only its included AI. Messages through your own provider account are not counted on any plan; your provider bills you for them.
- Does work continue when I close the tab?
- A task keeps its place when you close the tab. Venta's worker picks it up on its next run — today that can be up to a day — and a task that needs your own computer waits for that computer to be online.
- Is it safe to let an AI run commands on my computer?
- Venta reaches a computer only while its app is running, only in the folders you point it at, and inside the ceiling you set. Purchases and deletions ask first, and every command it runs is shown in the conversation.
