A TeamViewer alternative: tell the other computer what to do.

TeamViewer and other remote-desktop tools let you see another computer's screen and drive it with your own mouse and keyboard. Venta works differently: you say what needs doing, and it runs the commands you approve on that computer. It does not drive the mouse and keyboard.

Two different jobs

A remote desktop is the right tool when you need to see and click through the other computer yourself: walking someone through a program, using a desktop app that has no other way in, or support work where a person watches the screen.

Venta is for the other kind of remote work: the task you could describe in a sentence. Restart an export, find a file, check the free disk space, copy a folder to a drive, tell you when a long job has finished. You describe the outcome, and Venta does it there.

What you can ask for

  • “How much free space is left on my office PC?”
  • “Find the contract I saved last week on my home computer and tell me which folder it is in.”
  • “Restart the export on my office PC and tell me when it finishes.”
  • “What is running right now?” — the programs and how busy the computer is, read through its own commands.

Set it up

  • Sign in to Venta in any browser.
  • On the computer you want to reach, install Venta for Windows, or run the one-file agent on macOS or Linux.
  • It appears under Your devices. From then on, ask for it by name.

The app and the agent connect out to Venta over HTTPS, so there is no port to open on your router.

Every linked computer is listed under Settings, then Devices, and can be unlinked there at any time; unlinking stops it immediately.

When each fits

  • To fix something by hand while you watch: a remote desktop.
  • To get a task done without sitting through it: Venta.
  • Over a weak phone connection: Venta sends words, not video.
  • To check on a long job from your phone: either works; with Venta you ask, and it looks and tells you.
  • To help someone else on their computer: a remote desktop, with their permission. Venta reaches only the computers linked to your own account.

What it asks before doing

You set a ceiling for what Venta may do on its own, and lower ceilings for particular tools. Purchases and deletions ask first unless you have allowed that kind of action, and a yes you give lapses on its own. Each command it runs is shown in the conversation as it happens.

What it does not do

  • It does not move your mouse or type on your keyboard.
  • It does not show a live video stream of the screen.
  • It cannot reach a computer that is off, asleep, or not running the app.
  • It is not a tool for supporting other people's computers.

What it costs

Free to try with 10 messages a month and no card. Paid plans start at $9 a month and include an AI allowance; connecting your own provider account does not use it.

Questions people ask first

Can Venta replace TeamViewer?
For tasks you can describe, often yes. For seeing and driving another desktop live, no: Venta does not stream the screen or move the mouse and keyboard. It runs the commands you approve and reports back in words.
Is the screen live?
No. Venta does not show a live screen. A picture of the screen is a beta in the Windows app and not generally available; Venta works through commands and files instead.
Do I need to open a port or set up a VPN?
No. The Windows app and the one-file agent connect out to Venta over HTTPS, the way a browser does, so nothing on your network needs to change.
Can I control my computer from my phone?
Yes. Venta runs in the phone's browser and installs to the home screen; the computer needs the desktop app or agent running. You describe the task, and can ask to see the screen.
What if the computer is off?
The task waits. Venta reaches a computer only while its app is running, and picks the task up when the computer is back.
