Find any file on your computer by describing it.
Choose the folders Venta may see. It keeps a catalogue of what is in them, finds files from a description, and reads the ones you ask about.
For the file you know you have but cannot find: the PDF from last week, the spreadsheet with the budget in its name, the photos taking up the most space.
- Read files on your computer
- Available on: Every plan, the free one includedWorks on: Windows, macOS, and Linux
What it does
- Finds files by name, type, size or date.
- Reads the files you ask about, to answer from them or summarize them.
- Combines what it reads with web search and its other tools in the same answer.
How it works
A linked computer shares a catalogue of the folders you choose: each file's path, size and date, not its contents. When you ask about a file, Venta reads that file through the app or agent on that computer.
It does not read folders you did not link or ask about.
Example prompts
- Find the PDF I downloaded yesterday and open it.
- Find the spreadsheets in Documents with budget in the name.
- Summarize the three newest files in my Projects folder.
- How big is my Photos folder, and what are the largest files in it?
Limitations
- It sees only the folders you choose.
- The computer must be on and running the Venta app or agent.
- The catalogue holds names, sizes and dates, so finding a file by what is inside it means reading files, which is slower.
Questions people ask first
- Can Venta see all my files?
- No. It sees only the folders you choose, and reads a file only when you ask about it.
- Which systems does it work on?
- Windows through the desktop app; macOS and Linux through the one-file agent, which needs Node 18 or newer.
- Does it upload my files?
- No. The catalogue carries names, sizes and dates; a file's contents are read only when you ask about that file.
