Control your smart home in plain words.

Connect the Home Assistant you already run. Venta lists your devices and acts on them when you ask, with no extra hardware.

For the house that already has smart lights, plugs and a thermostat, and an owner who would rather ask than open three apps.

What it does

  • Lists and controls lights, plugs, climate, media and scenes through your own Home Assistant.
  • Reads sensors, such as temperature, and the state of each device.
  • Asks before opening a lock, disarming an alarm or moving a cover such as a garage door.

How it works

You connect Home Assistant with its public address, through Nabu Casa or your own domain, and a long-lived access token from your Home Assistant profile. The token is stored encrypted. An address that only works inside your home network is refused, because Venta's servers cannot reach it.

Example prompts

  • Turn off every light downstairs.
  • Set the living room to 21 degrees.
  • Is the back door locked?
  • Start the evening scene.

Limitations

  • It needs Home Assistant reachable at a public address.
  • It controls what Home Assistant controls; devices outside it are out of reach.
  • Locks, alarms and covers always wait for your yes.

Questions people ask first

Do I need Home Assistant?
Yes. Venta works through your own Home Assistant, which connects to most smart home brands.
Does it work with a local address?
No. Venta's servers have to reach it, so use a Nabu Casa address or your own domain.
Can it unlock my door by itself?
No. Opening a lock, disarming an alarm or moving a garage door always asks you first.
