The problem
Remote-desktop apps put a small copy of your screen on your phone, and you work it with your thumb. For most errands, such as checking a download, freeing space or restarting something, you do not need the screen. You need the result.
How it works in Venta
- Install Venta for Windows on the computer, or run the one-file agent on a Mac or Linux machine, and pair it from your account.
- Open venta.tools in your phone's browser, or add it to your home screen.
- Ask in plain words. Venta works out the commands, runs the ones you approve, and shows each one with its output.
- Leave the computer on. If it sleeps, the task waits until it is back.
What Venta uses
Try this prompt
On my desktop PC: how much free space is on C:, and what are the five largest folders in my user folder?
Limitations
- It does not show you the screen; it runs commands and reads files.
- The computer must be on and running the Venta app or agent.
- Commands that delete or change settings wait for your approval.
Questions people ask first
- Do I need to install anything on my phone?
- No. Venta runs in the phone's browser; add it to your home screen to open it like an app.
- What if my PC is asleep?
- The task waits. Venta cannot wake a computer that is off or asleep.
- How is this different from remote desktop?
- Remote desktop shows you the screen to work yourself. Venta does the task on the computer for you and shows the commands it ran.
